Columbia University issued the following announcement.
The same quality stories and bits of information Columbia College alumni have come to expect won’t change, but the way they’ll find out about it has. Beginning with this Summer issue of Affinity, the magazine has transitioned to a digital-only format.
Some of the highest-read pages here on CC Connected have been stories from Affinity that we’ve shared with the college community, so we have clear evidence that there’s a significant digital audience is already in place. And the best part is that, beginning with this issue, the traditional flip publication that’s been posted online for the past 10 years is more interactive than ever.
Starting with the Table of Contents; you can simply click on an item on that page to take you directly to that story. On small screens, the new Stories feature breaks out individual articles in a scrolling mobile view. Within numerous parts of the magazine, clicking on content will link you out to other content on various websites to learn more.
“Technology brings us closer together, connecting alumni from all generations and geographic locations. We are excited to introduce this enhanced digital experience,” says Associate Director of Alumni Relations Carolyn Preul, the editor of Affinity. “The magazine has been formatted for smooth reading from any device. It’s easy to pick up where you left off, just as you would with the print magazine.”
In preparation for the magazine’s makeover, the production team researched current trends to bring faster pacing and fresh designs that match today’s consumer interests.
