Thirty nonprofits were able to receive more than $1 million in "emergency grant" funding from the Permian Basin Area Foundation (PBAF) to assist the organizations with immediate pandemic relief.
The PBAF Board of Governors made the decision to defer its spring grant cycle and instead grant $1.29 million in emergency COVID-19 relief funding.
“It is unfortunate we were unable to have our usual press conference to announce these grants,” PBAF grants administrator Meagan Harris said in a statement. “We look forward to the day when we can gather together and celebrate these nonprofit organizations and the wonderful work they are doing in our communities.”
According to the PBAF, among those nonprofits receiving funds are Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest, Humanities Texas, Prevent Blindness Texas, the Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas, The Cody Stephens Foundation, and the West Texas Food Bank.
The PBAF also awarded $329,000 to 11 organizations through the Dollie Ruth Neal Education Fund, according to the article.
