LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE: LCU Book Drive Benefits Children’s Home of Lubbock

Boooks

Lubbock Christian College issued the following announcement.

Lubbock Christian University recently donated over 550 books to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, the result of a community-wide book drive.

As a part of the Inauguration of President Scott McDowell, LCU hosted a book drive across campus. The drive lasted throughout the month of September, leading up to Inauguration Week itself. Collection boxes were set up across campus, and some professors even offered incentives to students who donated. Donations were also encouraged at events during the inauguration itself.

The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Ashely Cherry, professor of mathematics, who helped organize and coordinate the drive as a way to give back to an incredibly valuable part of the greater Lubbock Community.

"We are so appreciative of everything that the Children's Home of Lubbock does to serve kids in our community,” she said. “I'm grateful that the book drive gave LCU an opportunity to express our thanks to this organization and to let the kids know that we are thinking of them during this holiday season."

A team of LCU volunteers delivered the books to the Children’s Home of Lubbock in early December, where the books will be a resource for the staff and children.
