There were 236 students enrolled in Whitharral ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 34.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 54.7% of them were boys, and 45.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 56.4% of the Whitharral ISD total enrollment.

Whitharral ISD roughly covers schools within Hockley County with its main office in Whitharral.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
