Hale Center ISD schools Education: 4 American Indian students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were four American Indian students enrolled in Hale Center ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Hale Center ISD schools welcomed 599 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.7% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Hale Center ISD roughly covers schools within Hale County and has a main office in Hale Center.

Among the three schools in Hale Center ISD schools, Carr Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of two students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
