Enrollment Analysis: white students comprised 56.3% of Wellman-Union CISD schools' student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 160 white students enrolled in Wellman-Union CISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 6.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Wellman-Union CISD schools welcomed 284 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, white students comprised 56.3% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Wellman-Union CISD roughly covers schools within Terry County and has a main office in Wellman.

Wellman-Union School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 160 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
