There were 1,347 students enrolled in Muleshoe ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.2% of them were boys, and 46.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 87.2% of the Muleshoe ISD total enrollment.

Muleshoe ISD roughly covers schools within Bailey County with its main office in Muleshoe.

Among the four schools in Muleshoe ISD, Dillman Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 403 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
