There were 2,691 students enrolled in Levelland ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.3% of them were boys, and 47.7% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 74.2% of the Levelland ISD total enrollment.

Levelland ISD roughly covers schools within Hockley County with its main office in Levelland.

Among the six schools in Levelland ISD, Levelland High School recorded the highest enrollment of 745 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
