There were 175 students enrolled in Jayton-Girard ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 57.7% of them were boys, and 42.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 76.6% of the Jayton-Girard ISD total enrollment.

Jayton-Girard ISD roughly covers schools within Kent County with its main office in Jayton.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
