There were 474 students enrolled in Sudan ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.2% of them were boys, and 46.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 50.2% of the Sudan ISD total enrollment.

Sudan ISD roughly covers schools within Lamb County with its main office in Sudan.

Among the two schools in Sudan ISD, Sudan Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 294 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
