There were 1,647 students enrolled in Brownfield ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight increase compared to the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.6% of them were boys, and 47.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 78.1% of the Brownfield ISD total enrollment.

Brownfield ISD roughly covers schools within Terry County with its main office in Brownfield.

Among the five schools in Brownfield ISD, Oak Grove Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 677 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
