Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 88.4% of Morton ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 312 Hispanic students enrolled in Morton ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Morton ISD schools welcomed 353 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 88.4% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Morton ISD roughly covers schools within Cochran County and has a main office in Morton.

Morton School was the only school in the district which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming 312 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
