2,905 students enrolled in Scurry County schools during 2023-24 school year

There were 2,905 students enrolled in Scurry County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 5.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Scurry County had the 124th lowest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that Hispanic students made up 58% of the student body, the largest percentage in Scurry County schools, followed by white students at 37.3%, Black students at 1.6%, Asian students at 0.8%, American Indian students at 0.2% and multiracial students at 2%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
